The total meter measures the flow through the pipeline for a period of time, which is expressed by dividing the total amount flowing in a short period of time by the quotient of the time. In fact, the flow meter is usually also equipped with a cumulative flow device, which is used as a total meter. The total meter is also equipped with a flow signalling device. Therefore, it is no longer practical to divide the flow meter and the total meter in a strict sense.
